GENERAL DISEASES
CEREBRAL PALSY
Shoulder joint also called glenohumeral joint is a ball and socket joint which is formed by humerus, scapula and clavicle. It is held in position by a covering of muscles which are attached to the bones by firm cords called tendons. The head of the humerus is shaped like a ball which fits into the shoulder blade and gives rise to a wide range of movements. The cavity where this ball is seated is called glenoid cavity and is much shallow as compared to that of the hip joint. Because of this reason it is the frequent site of dislocation.
The pain of the shoulder joint may be of many reasons because of the complexity of the joints and structures present. In some cases there will not be any underlying diseases present but it may be due to overuse of the joint.
